Members of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Hope Congregation welcomed the year 2020 with shouts of joy, praises and prayers as the congregation worship at the watch-night service.

Preceding the stroke of midnight, the Resident Minister, Rev. Emmanuel Obeng Ntow led the congregants in a solemn moment of prayer to usher in the new year.

The congregation was very ecstatic as the clock hit 12 midnight as congregants mostly clad in white sang praises to God for seeing the new year.

Preaching on the theme, “The God of a Second Chance”, Rev Ntow said the game of life is not like a game in which one has only one chance to win before it is over.

He said just because people make mistakes does not mean that God is finished with them.

Reading from, John 13: 6 – 9, he said the God we serve is the God of mercy adding that the word mercy means to extend help to the most undeserved. It implies, compassion that overshadows punishment, even when justice demands it.

He said as the new year dawns, people must change their attitude, habits and lifestyle to the desire of God.

“Do not fail to realise that there is new life in Christ Jesus. He alone can wipe away the old and bring in the new. He alone can give people a new start in life. He alone can give anyone a second chance. I want you to know that even if you have messed up, God still has a plan for your life.” He said.
