Passage: John 3:1-17
Service Type:

Nicodemus, a season Pharisee and a teacher of the law who have been observing Jesus teach and doing things that he Nicodemus have been doing because he is a teacher but sees that there is something different about Jesus and instead of being envious like many of his colleagues, he decides to take a risk and approach Jesus to find out more.

The passage is one of the keys to becoming or entering into the kingdom of God. This passage shows us the key, the only key that will let us go into this kingdom of God. There are many explanations and definitions for the phrase the Glory of God. In simple terms, it is the manifestation of God’s presence. The glory of God can also be manifested in our hearts.

The glory of God is the goodness of the lord. God’s greatest glory is that He is good. How do we set ourselves to experience the Glory of God in our life on a day to day basis.

From the reading, re realised that as Nicodemus came to Jesus he saw that He was doing things differently and inquired how he could get to this state. This tells us that the first step of experiencing God’s glory is to desire it just as Nicodemus did.

For many Christians, that desire is absent but like Nicodemus, we need to take that first step. We need to be born again. When Nicodemus sort how, Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again”

This should apply to us today. We need to be truly born again to be transported into the realm where we can experience the glory of God in our lives. For it is the new birth experience that ushers us into the glory / kingdom of God.

Again to experience the glory of God, we need to practice his presence by making a deliberate effort to be aware of the presence of God in your heart everyday. David said in Psalm 16:8 “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”

To experience the glory of God. We need to think of God the most we can and accustom ourselves to the small but holy exercise. Although no one will notice it, we need to repeat these little adorations from time to time, returning to God thanks for the favours he has given us in the midst of our troubles.

In so doing be assured that God knows what is on our hearts and knows exactly what to do about any situation that you might be experiencing.

As you go about your daily life, lift up your hearts to God because he is our sufficiency and engage Him because He deserves to be with us always.

Let us not think that experiencing the glory of God in our lives means we shall not have any afflictions. Issues and problems may come but we need to be rooted firmly in our faith in God.

In conclusion, if you have not experienced the new birth, there is an invitation from God this day for that is the only key. If you have already experienced it, then God is reminding you of his presence and inviting us to come and experience that new birth so that we can be ushered into the kingdom of God, where His glory and power resides.
