The PCG Hope Congregation on Sunday, December 22, 2024, held its annual festival of nine lessons and carols.
The festival of nine lessons and carols is a service of Christian worship to celebrate and remember the birth of Jesus Christ that is traditionally followed at Christmas and was introduced to bring a more imaginative approach to the worship of Christ’s birth.
Bible Scriptures from the promise of the Messiah to the birth of Jesus were read in nine short bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books, and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns, and choral music by the evergreen Church Choir of the Hope Congregation.
Mr. Samuel Kumi who gave the exhortation on the theme, “The good news comes closer”, said Jesus’ kingdom as promised in the scriptures is for each Christian who believes in God adding that it was not discriminating at all but available to all who accepts the Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal savior.
“The good news has inclusivity. It is not meant for a particular tribe or culture, The good news is for all, yours is to accept the Lord as your lord and your personal Savior and you will be part of the God’s family and God will transform your life from glory to glory” he said
He said the good news brings each of us closer to God no matter who we are stressing that through Jesus, Christians were invited into God’s family.
“The good news comes closer because it is for all of us. It shows God’s love is limitless and unconditional. His love is limitless. His love is unconditional, yours is to accept him.”
He said for this Christmas season, the good news comes closer adding that it is not just a tip but a powerful truth.
He charged the congregants to like Mary, respond with open hearts to God’s plan and this Christmas and be messengers of the good news bringing hope, peace and joy to those around us.
