Hope @25, Hope Congregation holds maiden mass wedding on Valentine Day

The Hope Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Sakumono-Estates near Tema on Sunday, February 14, 2016 held a mass wedding for 13 couples. The ceremony, which formed part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the church was officiated by the Reverend Bernhardt Y. Quarshie a senior minister of the PCG and Rector of the Akrofi Christaller Institute of Theology, Akropong-Akuapim and assisted by Rev.  Stephen Nii Lankwei Lawson.

The ceremony which coincided with the 25th anniversary celebration of the Hope Congregation of the PCG was witnessed by about 3,000 church members, families and loved ones of the couples.
The couples who were joined together in holy matrimony were Jacob  A. Abbey and Edith Amerley Kuma, Jonathan Codjoe and Mary Martey, Godfred Ablade and Victoria Aryee and  Isaac Amoako and Faustina Essel. Others were Micheal Osae Asante and Helina Mari Asante, Ebenezer Adu Broni and Grace Korantema Amoako, Samuel Offei Larbi and Monica Amabea Offei, John Nyarko Atteh and Sarah Nuamah and Daniel Eghan and Abigail Pobbi. The rest were Daniel Kwarteng and Charity Ametepey, William John Asaku-Yeboah and Adelaide Dedaa Odei, Godfred  Ampomaa Antwi and Mercy Adowaa.

Preaching the sermon, Rev. Quarshie reminded the couples that marriage was established by God and urged them to respect and sustain the institution. He also advised the couples to love each other and exercise patience and tolerance in their relationships.

Rev. Quarshie stressed on the charge in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 which reads, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” and entreated the couples to treat each other with respect, understanding and tenderness.

Speaking to www.hopepresby.org the Sakumono District Minister, Rev Stephen Lawson emphasized on the need for couples to spend quality emphasizing that a good balance of home and office time could lead to a productive life. He disclosed that apart from commemorating the silver jubilee celebration, the mass wedding was organised to enable the members avoid the high cost of individual marriages and to understand the sacrament of marriage.
