DAILY WORDS OF HOPE

TODAY’S VERSE:
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6

THEME: THE FASTING THAT HELPS

WORDS OF HOPE:
We usually think of fasting as abstaining from food and drink. There are times people fast just to loose weight. We sometimes fast as a religious discipline. Isaiah deplored the kind of fasting that led people to be proud of their ‘spirituality’.
Just look at the text and note the kind of fasting God desires.
A fast that sets captives free, that clothes people and that won’t tolerate starvation in famine torn nations. It’s not a fast that is inward-directed, but one that is directed toward others. It’s also the kind of fasting born of an eagerness to give up selfishness and greed for the sake of the poor and oppressed of the world.
Our lives can be thought of as a kind of fast, a fast that is acceptable to the Lord.

PRAYER POINTS:
● Thank you lord for the spirit of reaching out.
● Sweet Holy Spirit take hold of me and influence my life positively.
● Lord be our help and enable us overcome selfishness and greed

PRAYER:
Lord teach us to fast in a way that will help others and not only ourselves. Amen 🙏🏽
