WORDS OF HOPE:
The captain of the steamship SS Sardinian, Captain Joseph Dutton shared an encounter with George Muller of Bristol from August 1877. They were in a dense fog for over 24 hours on the Atlantic when Muller approached him, “Captain, I have come to tell you that I must be in Quebec on Saturday afternoon.” When informed that it was impossible, he replied: “Very well. If the ship cannot take me, God will find some other way. I have never broken
an engagement for fifty-seven years. Let us go down into the chartroom and pray.
The captain remarked to himself, “What lunatic asylum did he escape from?” He had never encountered someone like this. “Mr. Muller,” he said, “do you realize how dense the fog is?” “No,” Muller replied. “My eye is not on the dense fog but on the living God, who controls every circumstance in my life.”
Muller went down below deck to pray with the captain still curious about the whole engagement. He knelt down and prayed a simple prayer and when the captain started to “try to pray” he stopped him saying there was no need to pray and that he believed God had already answered the prayer! He said, “Captain, I have known my Lord fifty-seven years, and there has never been a single day that I have failed to get an audience with the King. Get up, Captain, and open the door, and you will see that the fog is gone.”
When the two men went back to the bridge, they found the fog had lifted, and Muller was able to keep his appointment. The captain became a Christian shortly afterwards.
With faith, whatever is impossible will be possible with God and like Muller, we must first know our God and place our trust in His power to control every circumstance in our lives.

• Ask the Holy Spirit to help you in your desire to develop a personal relationship with God
• Bring before the Lord any circumstance that is troubling you today trusting that with God nothing is impossible.
• Pray to have the spirit of sound mind and love to overcome fear
PRAYER:
Lord, you are a God that hears your servants. Demonstrate your power in my life in every situation I have brought before you today. Amen
