DAILY WORDS OF HOPE

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. Psalm 42:1
THEME: MY SOUL YEARNS TO KNOW THE LORD
WORDS OF HOPE:
The Sons of Korah began this Psalm with a powerful image – a deer aching with thirst. Perhaps the thirst came from drought or from heated pursuit; either way, the deer longed for and needed water. In the same way, the psalmist’s soul longed for and needed God. The psalmist wasn’t thirsty for water, but for God. Drinking and thirst are common pictures of man’s spiritual need and God’s supply. Here, the emphasis is on the desperation of the need. All creation by the very design of nature embedded in them have inclinations which they so much desire to fulfill; of which man is no exception. The greatest need of the soul is the desire for the word of God. Throughout our walk on earth; we are assayed by the cares of this world: family, work, money, health and even love. These things seem to be the bedrock of life, yet after being fruitful in these areas, one realizes that in the innermost recess of his being (soul) there is a voice of agony which still cries out for something much more than physical and emotional pleasures. This is because what our soul yearns the most, like thirst, is Christ. We should bear in mind that when we call out to the Lord, He receives us with loving kindness and the guilt which might hinder us in fellowship with Him, He counts it not against us as we come to Him out of a sincere heart.
• Thank the Lord for His goodness.
• Pray you will always dwell in the presence of the LORD.
• Pray that in your troubles the Lord will show Himself strong.
Lord, direct my thoughts towards you in all circumstances. Amen 🙏🏽
