DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
TODAY’S VERSE: PHILIPPIANS 3:10-11
THEME: KNOWING CHRIST AND BEING LIKE HIM
WORDS OF HOPE:
The goal of the Christian life is to know Christ and to be like Him. You can know a lot about someone without knowing the person himself. I know about Billy Graham because I have read his biography and I have seen him preach on TV. I have read some books he has written but I do not know Billy Graham because I have never been introduced to him and we do not have a personal relationship. Becoming a Christian requires that you know Jesus Christ.
You need to know who He is, the eternal God in human flesh. You need to understand that He died on the cross for your sins, and that He was raised bodily from the dead. But beyond these facts, you need to know Christ personally. That relationship begins at the moment you recognize that your sins have separated you from God and that you need a Savior. You also realize that you cannot save yourself from God’s judgment through your efforts or good works.
Letting go of all human merit, you call upon the Lord to be merciful to you based on the merits of the death of His Son Jesus. If your object of trust for commending yourself to God shifts from self to Christ, then you are saved. Paul noted that to become like Christ, one needs to know the power of Christ’s resurrection, participate in His suffering, become like him in his death so as to attain the resurrection of the dead.
What are you doing to become like Christ?
What do you know about the Lord?
Reflect on your relationship with the Lord.
How many minutes do you spend praying and studying the word of God?
How many minutes do you spend on social media platforms?
Assess yourself to see whether you know the Lord?
• Lord, cause me to know you
• Lord, grant me the grace to study the word of God
• Lord, grant me the grace to pray always
I pray in the name of Jesus that my life will showcase Christ to the world. May I meditate on the word of God day and night in Jesus’ name. Amen
