WORDS OF HOPE:
It is quite surprising to find out that the disciples after walking with Jesus for three years still did not really understand Jesus’ mission. Just as it was for most of the Israelites, they were still looking forward to Jesus freeing them from the captivity of the Romans and restoring them to their kingdom like it was in the days of David. But that was not the goal of Jesus. He had come to establish a heavenly kingdom and not just an earthly kingdom.
In verse 11, the angels appeared and reminded the disciples that Jesus will return in the same way just as they saw him go. He will surely return for those who have lived for him into this everlasting kingdom.
Paul reminds us in Philippians 3:20 that “we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.” Jesus Christ will surely return. Are you ready for His coming?
PRAYER TOPICS:
• Thank God for the assurance of His return.
• Pray that you will be a faithful witness of Christ.
• Pray for the grace to live as one expecting the return of Christ.
PRAYER:
Father, grant us the grace to live as people eagerly awaiting your return. Amen
