DAILY WORDS OF HOPE
BY PCG, HOPE CONGREGATION–SAK. EST
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. John 15:5-6
THEME: STAY CONNECTED
WORDS OF HOPE:
Naturally, plants cannot survive when uprooted from the soil. Likewise, fishes die when taken out of water. When anything is detached from its source, it dies. It may struggle to survive for a while but it will eventually die. This was the message Jesus was conveying to His disciples when He spoke to them in today’s text. If we detach ourselves from Him, we will die like a branch plucked from the stem of a tree. Yes, we may initially seem alright but life will be slowly but surely ebbing out of us and in a short while we will wilt and it will be very evident that we are dead. Why is that? Because it is from the stem that the branch gets sustenance and nourishment. The stem is the part of the plant that, as it were, gives birth to the branches – the branches are formed out of the stem. It is also the medium through which nutrients are supplied from the roots to the branches. Again, it is through the instrumentality of the stem – in supplying nutrients to the branch and bearing it up for sunlight that the branch is able to produce fruit…in other words, our fruitfulness in life is dependent on Christ. So this year, endeavour to stay connected to Jesus, the stem, so you can continue to receive abundant life, sustenance and nourishment. Stay connected!
· Pray that God will enable you to realize how important it is to stay connected to Him.
· Pray for grace to stay connected to Jesus throughout this year.
O Lord God Almighty, we pray for grace to stay connected to You throughout 2019 in Jesus Name! Amen 🙏🏽
