TODAY’S VERSE: ACTS 3:6-8
THEME: USE THE NAME OF JESUS
WORDS OF HOPE:
We learnt yesterday that there is power in the name of Jesus and it discharges honourably in heaven, on the earth and underneath the earth. It equally results in praise, glory and surrender – every tongue confesses.
The name of Jesus must be used to derive the benefits. That there is power in a name does not mean it will of itself deliver. It has to be used. Using Jesus’ name is deploying the power invested in the name to deliver the intended results. When Peter and John came to the lame man at the temple gate, they did not deliver silver or gold, neither did they offer sympathies and encouragement. Rather, they used the name of Jesus. This man had been lame from birth, but the length of time did not matter. In v 16, Peter shows us how to use the name; he affirms the name must be used having faith (confidence) in it. Beloved, have faith in the name of Jesus. It is not archaic. Repose your confidence in it; it will not fail you. Hallelujah! As you mention Jesus’ name over whatever situation, have confidence in it. It means do not use it as a trial session. Authority is not trial for results. It is exercised. Exercise the name of Jesus today. Demand a turnaround in the name of Jesus and it will not prove false. Praise the
